No-exam life insurance
Eligibility requirements for expedited underwriting, how the process works, and what you do if exams are still needed.
Growing numbers of carriers offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants in specified age ranges and amounts, they approve using application data, prescription records, driving history and other information instead of an in-person medical evaluation. Many respond within hours. Every quote here notes whether an exam is needed, potentially needed, or not required.
What it changes
Going without an exam isn't the same as skipping review. All your answers get checked, and a policy granted based on false information can be reviewed during the first two years. If the carrier uncovers questions, it may request an exam or labs; you then decide if you want to move forward.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, people under age 60 buying up to the carrier's standard limit, with a clean health background and no tobacco use in the past year. If you've had recent bloodwork through your doctor, many carriers may use those results instead of requiring a new exam.
If an exam is required, it's typically a half-hour to forty-minute appointment at your home or work location in the Rocklin region, at no charge. For applicants in good health, results often improve your rate class, which means an exam can actually work in your favor.
